Danny Pruitt is the second artist The Beechfields has worked
with that is not in Maryland. He hails from Oklahoma, but his
music fits right into The Beechfields family.
Danny Pruitt has been writing songs for a long time. He got his
start in high school as the leader of the band Range, and once
that was through, he quickly formed his second band Shiloh Fivecoat.
After releasing records for both bands on his own Rusty Canoe
Records, he recorded and released his first solo album Codeine
Dreams for the same label. Danny toured heavily in support of
that release, and gained recognition through local radio airplay
and many positive reviews. Delusions of Adequacy described it
as "a richly detailed and beautifully plain EP whose best
songs, including the stunning title track, instantly forge cinematic
scenes in the listener's mind." The album also caught the
attention of California indie label Velvet Blue Music, which offered
Danny a spot on their Start the Music compilation.
In 2005, Danny moved from his longtime home of Stillwater, Oklahoma,
to Little Rock, Arkansas, and began work on his latest effort,
Alamosa, for the Beechfields record label. With four
new heart-breaking songs, Alamosa finds Danny at his
most poignant. An album with murder ballads and love songs side-by-side,
Alamosa is Danny's most hauntingly fragile work to date.
What is ironic about all of this is that I lived in Alamosa,
Colorado for a year and the town and that year is the most significant
year of my life — it changed my life forever. But that is
about me, and this shoud be about Danny.
We are really excited to release his EP because it showcases
the best elements of Neil Young meeting the best elements of Acetone
and Low. Danny writes organic downtempo pop-folk and we can not
get enough.
