The Red Vines
Everyday Needles for Electromagnetic Lovers
Everyday Needles for Electromagnetic Lovers
a fresh, modern and delightful indie-pop mash up of late
70's psychedelia and AM radio gold. This record is sunny
California painted up east coast style, reminiscent of
bands like Tram, Turin Brakes, Wilco, Spoon, Elliott Smith
and Grandaddy. When you pop in this CD, you will enjoy
a bunch of wonderfully crafted songs, reminiscent of Todd
Rundgren’s 70’s album-oriented pop but with
a modern flavor – much like if Elliott Smith had
The Autumn Defense as his backing band.

The Seldon Plan
The Collective Now (remastered)
An exploration of the band's on-again-off-again relationship with pop, The Collective Now was originally meant to be a dance pop record with healthy references to early 80's college radio. What emerged instead was the band's distinctively layered indie pop sound—searching, modern, nuanced—with noticeable tension between the desire for accessibility and the need for artistic expression. Listeners might hear glimmers of Maritime, The Little Ones, Band of Horses, Earlimart and The Swirlies. But no matter what you hear, you're sure to enjoy this sophomore effort from The Seldon Plan.

Among Wolves
Among Wolves
Among Wolves are beautiful, yet destructive at times,
indie-alt/country. The music of Among Wolves is deeply
personal, expressing life experiences through stories
and characters that come to life through their songs.
For fans of The Beach Boys, Flaming Lips, Townes Van Zandt,
Neil Young, Will Oldham, Gram Parsons, and Guided By Voices.

Private Eleanor
Sweethearting
Private Eleanor's fourth full-length record is their
most confident and direct effort yet. This is a remarkable
set of songs, full of sly hooks and sparkling textures,
gorgeous boy/girl harmonies and oblique-but-evocative
storytelling. At various points, they manage to conjure
Mojave 3 produced by Wilco, or Simon & Garfunkel fronting
the Dismemberment Plan, or Yo La Tengo tackling your favorite
Neil Young and Big Star songs.

The Stalking Horses
This Is Your Signal
The Stalking Horses combine intelligent songcraft, "blissfully
ragged melodicism" (Baltimore Magazine) and straight-forward
rock & roll. The band's live energy is transformed
into a massive wall of studio sound that propels singer
Sarah Pinsker's road-worn tales of fragile and enchanted
characters enacting a dream rehearsal of your life.

Neil Cotterill
Moonshot
The songs on Neil Cotterill's solo debut are explorations
of the psyche. Mixing vintage acoustic tones with otherworldly
Moog synth sounds, Neil turns observations of the everyday
mundane into a sensory wonderland of sorts. A real stunner
of a record -- Fans of Stephen Malkmus, The Microphones,
Helium, and Daniel Johnston will absolutely love it.

Masters of the Universe
Don't Block The Box
Don't Block the Box is the first album for this
3-piece from Frederick, MD. On this self-produced record,
MOTU explores latent indie-funk-rock as only they can.
Each song takes the listener through notepad stories about
places and times, surrounded by the bluesy-rock guitars
and Van Morrison-esque vocals of Aidan Ryan. Songs like
"Disco Appalachia" and "Black White Cards"
play out into infectiously catchy grooves. The skillful
drumming of Kelly Mills and intricate bass and keyboards
of Bing Kung round out what is an impressive 2005 debut.
Fans of acts as diverse as Yo La Tengo, Neil Young, Earth
Wind and Fire, Wilco, Steely Dan and Joe Cocker will all
find plenty to love in this record.

Private Eleanor
No Straight Lines
This is easily one of the best records to come out of Baltimore
in 2005! Occupying its own unique space somewhere between alternative-folk
and indie-pop, the new full-band lineup delivers a textured set
of songs that blend a newfound sonic expansiveness with PE's trademark
intimacy and charm. If you like The Decemberists, Ida, or The Wrens,
you are going to love this 12 song wonder from Private Eleanor.
