| "You can hear elements
of indie folk, apartment rock, and indie pop that pushes the boundaries
of each genre. Intelligent lyrics and clever songwriting will easily convince
you to pay a lot of attention." "His easy going, mostly acoustic songs are pleasant and inviting." "Possibly the most somber of the tunes has to be “London”, one of my favorite on the record. Thanks to the inclusion of a cello, the song is given a more earthy sound, at times evoking Damien Rice before it takes a dive back into more indie fare with the stroke of a keyboard. He repeats the use of a keyboard in the track “Underneath” as well as a few woo-hoo-hoo’s to close the song with. The last song, a fun little track, is a accompanied by female vocals and it fits pretty good with Neil’s vocals." "Neil's music isn't the strummed chords and trite lyrics such words often evoke. Pavement comparisons were abundant for Neil's previous bands and they still apply here, if only as the most obvious influence to Neil's guitar style...and Malkmus fans won't be disappointed by Moonshot-- Neil can play." |
